1. What steps are Corporate Communications taking to publicise the 50th Anniversary?

The 50th Anniversary is a great opportunity for INSEAD to establish the positioning as The Business School for the World in the minds of all of our stakeholders and Corporate Communications have developed a Global communications plan including: the Global publications plan, Global Media Relations plan, Global events plan, Internal Communications plan, Alumni communications plan, Web plan, and a list of 50th Anniversary specific tactics.

This is a working document and will be updated on a regular basis as more detail is available. This plan will be available online to key stakeholders.

2. What are the objectives of the 50th Anniversary?

a. To celebrate our 50th Anniversary during 2009 – 2010

b. To raise the visibility of INSEAD and consolidate our positioning as ‘The Business School for the World’

c. To promote INSEAD’s academic credentials

d. To communicate the INSEAD strategy

e. To foster networking relationships – business leaders through alumni

f. To increase fundraising opportunities

4. When do the 50th Anniversary celebrations begin?

The celebrations actually start on 12 September 2009 with an event at the Chateau that will take place in the very room that INSEAD was founded. We will celebrate our Anniversary from this date until end 2010.

5. What is happening before September 2009?

We will be preparing for the celebratory year and gathering all of the collateral we will keeping our close stakeholders informed about what is going on, engaged in the process and hopefully inspired to ensure that come September we are ready to wow the world.

6. What is happening for the 50th Anniversary?

a. The 50th Anniversary theme is ‘Changing lives – Changing the world’. This is designed to position INSEAD both in terms of what we have achieved during the last 50 years and what we want to achieve in the next 50 years.

b. We are developing a 50th Anniversary logo that will be available for use in April 2009. There will be a set of guidelines for its use but it will be used to advertise that we are celebrating our anniversary and to raise brand awareness.

c. We are developing a 50th Anniversary micro website that will be launched in April 2009 to inform, engage and inspire all of our stakeholders about the 50th Anniversary. It will contain a timeline, the history of the school, an event schedule, Alumni stories, etc.

7. How will I find out what is happening?

We are working on an internal communication campaign with a bi-monthly communication to all staff and faculty reporting on 50th Anniversary developments.

8. How will Alumni be involved?

a. We have started to communicate with the Alumni about the 50th Anniversary and will do so bi-monthly.

b. As part of the collateral we need for the 50th Anniversary we have begun our search for ‘50 Alumni who have changed the world’ which we will use to create a book and an exhibition and also for content for the micro website.

9. Will partners be able to get involved?

To enable us to maximise our reach and raise brand awareness further we will be seeking sponsors to be part of our celebrations. These will be able to sponsor parts of our celebrations and to associate their brand with the INSEAD brand. This process will begin early next year.

10. Is anything special happening for the founders of INSEAD?

A Founder’s Dinner – an event to mark the founding of INSEAD will take place at the Chateau on 12 September.

11. What about the National and International councils?

International and National council celebrations are planned and will take place from May 2009 to February 2010. These will be CEO dinners chaired by INSEAD ambassadors (tbd).

12. What other events are planned for the Anniversary year?

We will integrate the existing Leadership Summits in 2010 into the 50th Anniversary celebrations and turn them into landmark events with world-renowned figures speaking and attending. The search for these is underway and we will keep you informed of progress as more details emerge.

13. What about the Alumni Reunion weekends?

During the Anniversary, these weekends will be themed to reflect the 50th Anniversary.

14. How can employees get involved?

We have an organising committee who are all we need at present but as we get closer and more details emerge we will need more people to get more involved. There will be:

  • A 50th Anniversary employee contest with fantastic prizes, designed to test your creativity
  • A 50 Champions programme – an internal ambassadors programme
  • A Summer Day - a 50th Anniversary themed event for everyone
  • A 50th Anniversary exhibition - celebrating 50 years
